Planning a safari or Kilimanjaro trek in Tanzania? Here’s what you need to know before you go:
Most travelers need a tourist visa to enter Tanzania.
Visa Options:
Visa on Arrival – Available at major airports and land borders. Fee: ~$50 USD (or $100 for U.S. citizens).
E-Visa (Recommended) – Apply online before arrival: https://visa.immigration.go.tz
Processing time: ~10 working days
Documents Needed:
Valid passport (see below)
Return flight ticket
Accommodation details or tour confirmation
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date
Should have at least 1 blank visa page
Yellow Fever Vaccine – Required only if arriving from or transiting through a yellow fever–endemic country (e.g. Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia).
Proof of vaccination (yellow card) may be requested.
COVID-19 – No testing or vaccination is currently required, but regulations may change. We advise bringing proof of full vaccination if available.

Hepatitis A & B
Typhoid
Tetanus
Rabies (for long stays or remote trekking)
Land at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) for international flights
